A leading Fintech company has launched a new initiative to provide Banking-as-a-Service (BaaS) and digital banking solutions in collaboration with major financial group partners. The team operates across multiple countries including Japan, India, and Vietnam, building next-generation digital banking infrastructure from the ground up. The engineering organization is growing rapidly and is committed to delivering mission-critical financial systems with the highest standards of quality and security.
The role
We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the development of a new digital banking platform built from scratch. This role requires a strong security mindset and a clear understanding of data privacy, credential protection, device security, and the responsible use of corporate systems.
- Lead the team to develop the digital bank system from scratch
- Own overall project management including planning, tracking, risk management, stakeholder management, and quality assurance
- Build and manage development teams across three countries: Japan, India, and Vietnam
- Establish and track engineering processes following the Scrum/Agile framework
- Act as Scrum Master for the team
- Regularly communicate with development team members to resolve technical issues, manage progress, and ensure quality
- Participate in system design, contribute to system architecture, and manage integrations with third-party systems
- Review code, provide insights, and establish coding standards for the project
- Design system operations and maintenance considerations from development through post-release
- Ensure efficient and safe additional system development, operations, and maintenance after release
- Provide regular reports to management
What we're looking for
Minimum qualifications:
- Over 10 years of software development experience and more than 3 years of engineering management or project management experience
- Must have experience working in a bank or banking environment
- Experience in AI development or development using AI tools
- Practical experience with Scrum/Agile framework
- Practical experience leading a development team of 30 or more members
- Experience in backend system development using Java or Kotlin
- Experience developing microservices applications in a cloud environment
- Practical experience with frontend technologies such as React or Node.js
- Experience with authentication and authorization technologies including OAuth 2.0 and OIDC
- Experience in system development and operation using cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP, or equivalent)
- Strong problem-solving skills and leadership
- Excellent English communication skills
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience developing, operating, and maintaining mission-critical business systems in financial institutions, especially core banking systems
- Knowledge and experience in collaboration with financial institutions and regulatory compliance
- Experience with cloud-native core banking platforms (e.g., modern BaaS/core banking SaaS solutions)
- Experience implementing CI/CD pipelines
- Experience building teams and operational workflows based on DevOps culture
